for these folks
autistic boy was found chained to a bed
while mum was out doing the
grocery shopping
initially i was disCusted and shocked by it
but after reading some details
find myself uncomfortable with the outcome
www.stuff.co.nz/world/australia/73899781/teenager-found-chained-up-in-sydney-home
heres my quandry
the boy is autistic
and he has grown
into a teenager
bigger, stronger and faster
than mum
mum cant take him to the supermarket
theres no one to watch the boy
who left unattended will
doubtlessly do himself or others harm
the family needs groceries
so mum shackles thee lad to his bed
while she undertakes the requisition of
comestibles
now i do not condone this
action
at all
she should have been better
organised etc
but shes got four other kids
and she is alone
so what is she supposed to do?
So the boy ends up
being confined to quarters
for his own safely
she is of course being painted
as a monster
but i have to disagree
she was doing what had to be done
for the good of the whole
family
if she had left him
unattended and unrestrained
it could lead to the house burning down
or the lad running with scissors
or whatever
so the lad was in fit condition
and able to walk
why was he removed by ambulance staff
on a stretcher?
why was he tied to the stretcher?
tied to a stretcher
chained to a bed
same same
i also found this a little disturbing
really?
so there were
fire
Rescue
The police
and an ambulance
called in to help
remove the boy
remove the boy?
was he stuck in concrete?
had she dropped an i beam on him
to hold him in place?
all those services being employed
to walk a physically healthy boy
40 meters
from his bedroom
to a waiting ambulance
on a stretcher
tied down?
overkill much?
i think this is a case
of the media
'making' news
and the authorities
justifying their existence
of all the calls made
and services brought in
not one mental health professional?
all reactive assistance
but no supportive or preventive assistance
imo yes the police should be called
but instead of all the other players
perhaps a mental health professional
and a couple of social workers
would be far better money spent?
i repeat
i do not endorse the womans actions
but I understand them
what I cannot understand
is the authoritarian action
