Sacked Auckland bartender wins $13,000 after nine days' work
A bartender who worked at an Auckland restaurant for nine days has been given almost $13,000 after she was unfairly fired.
Anna Faulls started work at the new Italia Square restaurant, cafe and deli in the upmarket suburb of Parnell on December 1, 2014.
After only nine days of work she was fired by the owner Sean Aram on December 9 after he became angry she had told other staff to go home based on instructions given by Aram's wife, Izumi Aram.
A recent Employment Relations Authority decision found Faulls' dismissal was unfair and she was awarded $6342.50 for lost wages, $592.80 for unpaid holiday pay and $6000 as compensation for "humiliation, loss of dignity and injury to her feelings".
after reading that my feelings are quite hurt too and i never had any dignity to start with damn id get heapsa coin
the bro must have done some fibbing
Employment Relations Authority member Anna Fitzgibbon said Aram was not a credible witness.
"Mr Aram's evidence about the circumstances of Ms Faulls employment and the events leading up to her dismissal was inconsistent."
