some of you may recognise these small musing from the weasels den at eoti where many of my lifes aspirations viz a viz gainful employment have been written looks like i have to start a new series here goes
i have always wanted to be....
a recluse
I wouldn’t live in a cave tho
or wear a loincloth
or grow a straggly beard
and run about bare
chested
no sir
not me
I would rather be a
stay at home recluse
and have hot showers
and cooked food
I don’t understand
why reclusiveness
need be a bedfellow
of the slovenly and unkempt
tis beyond me
the phone can ring
and ring
unanswered
as I sit in silence
arm’s length away
mail remains unopened
relegated to the paper
recycle bin
even the Jehovah’s witnesses
would turn dejected
door knock ignored
to seek souls unsaved
in climes more clement
lawns un-mowed
and abode foreboding
discouraging dare you to
neighbourhood kids
from retrieving errant balls batted
and booted
over unpainted fences of
corrugated cutting edges
a crusty
curmudgeon
miserable malfeasant
mentally unstable
sans guests
save the city meter reader
or council compliance complainers
yep
languishing living lonely life
lost
or only half lived
a recluse is the job
for me

I think a little of us all would love to be a recluse every now and then as our lives get busier, hectic and sometimes more complicated

That describes me to a T Yep I can put my hand up to that one. Lately I loathe having to get the car out, to go somewhere.

Nelson Mandela had imposed reclusive lifestyle for 30 years does that count. he crossed my mind too but even in the pokey he was a social chap playing chess with guards etc so i discounted him as being abjectly unworthy for the title

Sounds good I'd not shave or wax My hair would be floor length and grey I'd eat veges from my garden and small children that loiter too long at the gate
I'd read all day and paint and weave Fluff round with my roses
Ten more years I could kick em all out
