The Labour party is calling for the Susan Burdett murder case to be re-opened after a witness revealed she saw Malcolm Rewa in the area on the night Burdett was murdered.
Labour justice spokewoman Jacinda Ardern said new evidence bought to light on TV3's 3D investigation programme on Sunday was a reason to re-examine the case.
"It's simply not good enough for the Crown to assume that because Rewa is serving a sentence of preventive detention, a trial isn't warranted. Where is the justice for the family of Susan Burdett?
Labour should concentrate on getting a decent set of policies formulated that will improve the financial situation of low and middle earners, and forget ancient history... another court case and investigation would cost millions... and for what purpose?
