A homicide investigation has been launched after an elderly man was found dead in a public toilet block in Hamilton.
The man's body was discovered in the toilets in London St, central Hamilton, on Monday night.
The eastern end of London St had been cordoned off while police examined the scene.
"Police and scientists [will] begin work of reconstructing the events that led to the death of this man," a statement said.
The identity of the man had not yet been confirmed.
Police said the inquiry was in its early stages and investigators were attempting to gain a sense of what had occurred.
Anyone in the area of London St and Victoria St intersection at about 9pm on Monday 10 August, and observed suspicious behaviour, was asked to call Hamilton police on 07 858 6200.
