Man calls police on cat for stealing bacon

A man in West Yorkshire, UK called 999 in order to report his cat to the police as it had eaten his bacon.

The call began with the caller being asked, "What's your emergency?" with the caller saying, "Er..me girlfriend has let the cat eat my bacon," according to a recording released by the police as an example of the frivolous calls they often receive.

The caller then told the operator that he wanted to press charges against his girlfriend and the criminal cat, only to be told by the operator that, "Sir, it's not a criminal offence to let your cat eat your bacon. And we don't arrest cats."
