Ummmmm why do you have lights n 24/7? Because her majesty has too much crap, and if I didn't leave lights on...I would be forever wrecking things..... the centre of the house is in darkness without lights on... the hallway has two corners... only one end is open to any light from outside... its a rabbit warren my hallway I have a small torch (Maglite Solitaire) that I use when I am up and about at night ... would not be seen with it .

But of course if it is in the day you might like to have two way light switches installed. We have quite a long hallway although nothing to trip over though and it has three light switches we can use to turn on and off the hallway lights. Failing doing that you could have sensor type lights that turn on and off themselves but of course you would need power points probably to install them ....

Mine is very small and not much use for light except to see where you are going around the house in the night without waking up others. I also have a Maglite Mini which I converted to one of the new type of bulbs and boy is it bright, best torch I have.

That said, my back is getting better every week, so pretty soon, her majesty will have me throwing in new lights, plugs and switches all over the place

Security - yeah that weight would be good in a Maglite - I think they use to be the Policeman's choice of torch.

Energy saving bulbs are the way to go. I only went shopping once a fortnight so each time I purchased a couple so now my home has them throughout. They are a bit dull when first switched on but after a few minutes they brighten up.

Humdinger frost here this morning but hopefully it stays sunny. I need to wash my filthy car but the thought of the Hose and cold water is putting me off! Maybe later.

Got one of those non reply emails from Mercury Energy the other day informing me I have used an unusual amount of power this month. I felt like telling them to check out the time of the year, like winter is here.
