Yeah between using a column heater (oil filed) and then trying an electric one, they were both as bad as each other. Although apparently if you use the timer and T/stat on the oil ones and don't turn it off and on (like I did), they can be reasonably efficient.

My power bill is quite high but we use a lot of electronic gear and we use h hat pumps to warm up the house in the mornings as well as in the night in he bedroom if it is cold. July is usually the worst month as July is usually the coldest month.

Was 3C yesterday, 2C today and I think it will drop further tomorrow. Even Rosko when I take him off his chain, he enjoys a quick stroke then back into his kennel. Buggered if I can work out why he won't stay inside with the warmth of the heatpump. Those gas heaters cause to much condensation, that is my reason of giving them a wide berth.

Did I mention we also have solar hot water and a wetback on the fire along with three heat pumps which are also air conditioners in summer.

I don't think I have ever been this cold for so long. It is getting a bit much now. I probably wouldn't mind if I had some snow in the yard but haven't even had a decent Frost with it.

My dog likes the fire but he sleeps inside anyway. Apparently the temperature (according to Accuweather) felt like -13 at 3am Thursday morning - it was cold.

I have not used an electric blanket in years. My bed is warm and heats up quickly. Does not have a cold surface. If I did use one I would not sleep with it on. They are uit dangous IMO.

We have lights that run 24/7 and there are 13 bulbs in the lounge alone.... 9 on the chandelier...awful thing its got to go, and two in each of the wall lights

We still use the incandescent lightbulbs Im just doing a comparison now. Surely not? According to the comparison plugin I will save $22 a year on 1 bulb. Get outta here. www.energywise.govt.nz/tools/lighting

Awesome. We have 2 x one switch two light system for the lounge. That's twice as much bulbs we don't need. Waste the power lol I'll get on to energy savers. The reason I didn't like them was because I found they dimmed too quickly so never bothered with them again. That was a few years back. I would imagine they have improved hopefully. Gosh Im going on aren't I lol
