Video footage of prisoners fighting each other in cells and exercise yards in Auckland's Mt Eden prison has been posted online.
Corrections northern regional commissioner Jeanette Burns said Corrections was working with the prison's managers, Serco, to find out how the video footage made it to social media.

The use of cell phones, which seem to have been used to make the videos, in prison is prohibited and those involved could face internal or police charges.
Corrections was waiting for Serco's report on the investigation before making any decisions on charges or whether the prison's protocols had been properly followed.
In the meantime, Mt Eden Corrections Facility would be increasing the frequency of contraband searches.
In the videos posted to YouTube, the fighting appeared to take place inside cells and in the exercise yard. The men seen fighting had prominent Black Power gang tattoos.
Changes would also be made to strengthen the structure around how prisoners were monitored during the periods they were out of their cells, Burns said.
Mt Eden was mainly a remand prison, and therefore held prisoners for a shorter period than other correctional facilities.
