But load bangs and machine gun fire, isn't what you expect in sleepy Wanganui on a Sunday morning.

What's the temp like down there?
My digi thermometer showed -0 this morning so a bit colder than yesterday.

Machine gun fire? No doubt it will be on the news today. Cold here. I drew the curtains about 7 and it was all iced up.

We hear them at the Ardmore firing range sometimes, some bloody big booms but not heard much lately. Now the SAS is back stationed in Papakura no doubt it will be them having a play. The Iroquois helicopters fly back & forth, noisy fuckers they are.

Tell me about it.... there are a heap of them at Ohakea, and for some reason, they are banned from flying out to sea... so all there training seems to take place over Wanga's... its a real piss-off at times when you want a sleep-in.

Don't talk to me about bloody Helicopters. I'm straight across the road from the Hospital Helipad. The whole place shakes when they come over and it is all hours of the day and night.

A few years ago you would naturally assume it was army practice, IBE. With the way this country has gone recently it could be anything now.
