Some nutter is in a stand off with police, big topic on faceybook tonight with some of my mates that are just along the road from it.....Street has been locked down and some houses evacuated....Big news for Gore....
Although I was away from here for about 10 years all up....It's still pretty much the same, usually not much big drama....
The biggest thing I can remember would have been in '85 I think the year was...I was in std 4 and can remember everyone at school had to leave early but only if we were picked up as there was a armed stand off in the main street....
Being a 10 year old, it was pretty scary...
The guy ended up shooting his missus in the back of the head then the cops shot him...Long story over drugs, informants and forced bank hold up that didnt get held up....
I had that newspaper article for many years, even now....Our long time locals remember that like it was yesterday....
So when things like this happen, it certainly makes for that whole unsafe feeling in a wee town when most of us do feel safe....
Gore may be the butt of many a joke, but it really is a lovely wee safe (on the most part) feeling community
