What a night for some! Hope everyone here is ok and didn't suffer any damage etc. 7.5 is a biggie! Just hope that's all it will be and its over. Reading facebook this morning, there are some that felt it up here in Auckland. Must admit, I was awake in the night around that time but didn't feel anything. Wonder if the supermoon has anything to do with it?

It was a beauty alright. I can't believe it was centered in the South Island. It was pretty big. I need to go next door cos I heard stuff falling. No damage here thankfully. I never felt any aftershocks though.

Had a 40 second rolling quake here last night. My brother phoned this morning from Christchurch. He was a bit shaken up.

I hated it, as did the cat but the dog and hubby were fine. Have not had much sleep. Hubby home today as he cannot get into Wellington City. Have only felt one aftershock, 6.2 at 1.34 pm today. Might sleep in my clothes tonight, cause we have bad weather heading our way and we noticed when we were checking the rental for damage the power lines into the house has a tree close to them and another one with branches around it. I hate this house. Have sent an email to owner with lots of pics and issued about this place. Not expecting much to change though.

The shake went on for two minutes and they say it was two quakes going off at more or less the same time. Glad it was not one of the jolting ones, this would have been quite nice if it was not an earthquake.
