www.stuff.co.nz/world/australia/85734449/dreamworld-accident-mother-devastated-after-family-is-wiped-out-in-theme-park-tragedyThis must of been scary as for all who where there at the time. R I P to those who lost their loved ones. This place needs closing down A fatal accident at Dreamworld on Australia's Gold Coast, which is believed to have claimed the life of a New Zealander and three other people, comes after a series of incidents at the park over the past two decades. Since 1995, Dreamworld has had at least five incidents where rides malfunctioned or had to be temporarily closed down. Some of these incidents left visitors injured or stranded.

Considering they had a problem with the ride only hours before, then you would need to question how diligent they are about maintenance. I would have expected it to have some shutoff system or at least a warning when one of the rafts became stuck. Sad - very sad.

Makes one wonder just why was it not temporary shut or even just that particular ride while maintenance was undertaken.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing Nat. They obviously got the earlier problem sorted so carried on. It sounds like the ride is one of the oldest there so maybe it should have been better maintained.

Thinking of this tragedy brings home what has happened here in NZ with those new forms of entertainment the blow up type & the trouble they have had of course nothing on the scale of Dreamworld but entertainment just the same.
These are often at A & P shows.

The guys were partners. One of them was the remaining womans son and she lost her daughter as well. Then I think the lady ex Kawerau was a friend.

The son of one of the victims from the Dreamworld theme park disaster witnessed his Kiwi mother's fatal fall when the Thunder River Rapids malfunctioned.
Cindy Low, originally from Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty, was at the Australian theme park with her 10-year-old son, six-year-old daughter and partner on Tuesday.
However, the 42-year-old New Zealander made the tragic decision to separate from her family and ride in another tyre with five strangers.

I am almost 100% sure, this ride is 4 passengers per tyre I bet the staff at Rainbows End are rewriting and exercising Health & Safety, maintenance, staff training procedures etc. Well, I hope so anyway!

It is a 6 seater. There are 3 lots of 2 seats placed round the tyre.
