Shame its just a swish over in the region I live in.
Porirua seems to be coping a drenching, to be expected with leaves clogging drainage

Yes - finally we are getting a decent downpour! Everything was just so dry here, it was crazy for this time of year. I don't have to go anywhere today so it can rain all it likes.

I thought we had a nice steady downpour for awhile there and the garden is loving it.

TRONG WIND WARNING - WELLINGTON & WAIRARAPA. Sounds like yucky weather has really arrived. Severe northwest gales gusting 140km/h in exposed places are expected from Thursday afternoon and overnight Thursday. Wind of that strength is likely to cause damage around the place, affecting trees and powerlines and loose signs, and maybe lifting roofs. Secure any outdoor furniture, and trampolines, and don't put out the rubbish and wheelie bin until Friday morning if Friday is rubbish day. If you're out driving on Thursday afternoon or evening, take care as strong gusts of wind can make driving dangerous, especially if you're on a motorbike or have a high-sided vehicle.

I have my fires going - got quite cold for awhile but seems to have warmed up again. Nice to see the flames though and the animals approve.

Metservice are warning that high winds are set to continue! There's already been power outages in Wairarapa today. Severe northwest gales gusting 140 km/h in exposed places are expected from late this afternoon to mid-morning Friday, and severe westerly gales gusting 130 km/h in exposed places from Friday evening to early Saturday morning.
