I remember hearing he died
Mum had Elvis records so they got a bash for a while. None of us kids liked them, and I remember being vaguely repulsed by this bequiffed, sweating man in a white pantsuit on telly.

I vividly remember hearing the news of Marc Bolans death though. I loved (still do) "The Slider" album.
