Overpriced. Kawerau has very few jobs but it's a Mecca for out of towners. Our house prices are through the roof. Dave and I have been considering selling and going freehold by buying cheap. The only thing is... We're kinda scared to take the risk lol. Not really a risk as we'd come out in the $230,000 clear after the existing mortgage is paid. You can still get a pretty good house for $230,000 here and Dave's a handy man. But freehold, sounds pretty fine. A bit off topic lol

That's what happened to Kawerau. Word got out of how cheap property was here. 5 years ago you could buy a house for $45,000 and a section for $5,000. Now the $45,000 houses are going for $180,000.Sections $99,000. We bought ours for $120k.We could sell it for $360k par with similar property's that are are fetching 300k plus. This town has very few jobs too. Crazy inflated property market. I hope Gore remains a hidden jewel.
